About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Women's Crisis Advocate and Support Specialist to join our team at YWCA Hamilton. This dynamic role will provide essential support and services to women and gender non-binary individuals in life transition residing in our Transitional Living housing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the operation of day-to-day shelter needs, working collaboratively with residents to facilitate a plan for safe and effective independence.
  • Conduct intake meetings and assessments to identify client needs, providing information and referrals in areas such as housing, health, employment, education, social assistance matters, and counseling.
  • Maintain accurate record-keeping and reporting in accordance with YWCA Hamilton policies and procedures, as well as department-specific guidelines.
Skill Requirements
  • Completion of 2 years of college-level education in social work or human services, or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years' experience in telephone and in-person crisis management.
  • Experience working with women who have multiple barriers and concurrent disorders (mental health, addiction, violence).
  • Ability to work rotating shifts (days, afternoons, evenings) on weekdays and/or weekends.
What We Offer
  • A competitive salary estimated at $45,000 - $55,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
