About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Environmental Consultant to join our team at Linxus Group. As a Senior Environmental Consultant, you will play a key role in providing expert environmental consulting services to our clients in the oil and gas, forestry, mining, energy, and agricultural industries.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Interface with clients and staff to setup, manage, and report on environmental services related to upstream oil and gas facilities and regulatory requirements.
  2. Assist with building and maintaining positive client relationships focused on providing top quality service and project management excellence.
  3. Take direction from and support senior staff to achieve project and business goals.
  4. Mentor junior staff.
  5. Contribute to projects with a focus on data collection/processing, increasing role in analysis/interpretation, reporting, and project management.
  6. Assist with and/or lead field assessments as required on oil and gas facilities on crown land, including watercourse, wetland, vegetation, soil, timber, and wildlife assessments, including travel.
  7. Conduct baseline field studies, construction monitoring, site reconnaissance, field biological surveys, client meetings, etc.
  8. Undertake assignments that may involve travel and periods of time away from home office (camp/shift work on occasion).
  9. Complete technical reporting for Pre-Construction Site Assessments, Schedule A Soil Assessments, Fish Habitat Assessments, Watercourse Classification & Mitigation Reports, Wetland Classification & Mitigation Reports, Wildlife Assessments and Wildlife Habitat Features Reports, Environmental Protection Plans, and reclamation reports.
Requirements
  1. Graduate of a recognized Post Secondary institution or college in the field of Biology, Ecology, or Environmental Sciences.
  2. 5+ years of relevant environmental consulting experience (in NE BC oil and gas preferred).
  3. This position requires membership, or eligibility for membership, in the BC College of Applied Biologists (preferred) or the BC Institute for Agrologists.
  4. Highly proficient in MS Word, Excel, and other MS Office programs.
  5. Current Safety Tickets (i.e., First Aid, H2S) preferred.
  6. Valid Class 5 Drivers License.
  7. Canadian Citizen or Permanent Residency.
Competencies
  1. Ability to coordinate project planning, logistics, and preparation for field work.
  2. Understanding of applicable environmental regulations, guidelines, and associated industry practices within BC.
  3. Familiar with BC Energy Regulator regulations.
  4. Technical experience with BC's vegetation and wildlife species.
  5. Strong commitment to health and safety leadership.
  6. Excellent attention to detail, well organized, and reliable.
  7. Ability to manage time and priorities effectively.
  8. Ability to collect, manage, and report on accurate and up-to-date field information.
  9. Ownership attitude and accountability for completing tasks on time and on budget.
  10. Resourcefulness, constantly troubleshooting, knows the tools available and uses them appropriately.
  11. Strong oral communication skills, can effectively communicate with clients, peers, suppliers, and contractors.
  12. Strong written communication and technical report writing skills.
  13. Ability to work under harsh environmental and weather conditions on occasion.
  14. Physically fit.
