Critical Care Registered Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Critical Care Registered Nurse to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. As a specialty-qualified RN, you will be responsible for providing direct patient care in an acute medical unit, working collaboratively with the interprofessional care team to deliver person-centered care.
Key Responsibilities- Assessment and Care Planning: Assess patients and collect information from various sources, making nursing diagnoses and determining the effectiveness of nursing interventions.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with patients, families, and caregivers to develop and implement care plans, ensuring patient autonomy and dignity.
- Care Coordination: Coordinate nursing care, prioritize tasks, and delegate responsibilities to support staff, ensuring effective care delivery.
- Interprofessional Collaboration: Work with the interprofessional care team, including physicians, LPNs, and other healthcare professionals, to identify and resolve issues, adjust care plans as needed, and address changes in patient condition.
- Patient Education: Teach patients and families about illness prevention, health restoration, and health maintenance, supporting self-care and discharge planning.
- Documentation and Quality Improvement: Document assessments, nursing diagnoses, interventions, and patient outcomes, participating in research and quality improvement activities to identify patient care issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Professional Development: Participate in in-services, educational programs, and maintain current clinical competence and knowledge within the area of practice.
- Leadership and Mentorship: Act as a preceptor or mentor to new nursing staff and students, sharing knowledge and expertise to support their development.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Completion of applicable post-graduate coursework or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
