Director of Credit Risk for International Wealth Management

We are seeking a dedicated leader to oversee the credit quality of our International Wealth Management loan portfolio while collaborating on effective policy and growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote a client-centric culture within the team to enhance client relationships and leverage the broader organizational resources and expertise.
- Work closely with International Private Banking on transactions and risk appetite discussions, contributing to the development and nurturing of a risk-aware culture.
- Engage with International Private Banking to refine International Wealth Management policies and processes, identifying strategic growth opportunities.
- Evaluate credit applications within assigned limits, provide recommendations for exceptions to the Senior Credit Committee, and authorize necessary waivers and amendments.
- Collaborate with local credit units and International Wealth Management teams to provide guidance on non-standard transactions as needed.
- Ensure sustainable and profitable growth in Wealth Management credit portfolios by:
- Making informed and timely credit decisions within established lending limits, supported by thorough analysis and appropriate structuring.
- Contributing to the formulation and execution of lending policies and strategies.
- Staying vigilant to emerging market opportunities.
- Maintain the quality and risk profile of the existing portfolio by:
- Monitoring the assigned portfolio and approved credits across various dimensions, ensuring compliance with credit conditions and addressing issues promptly.
- Identifying and managing underperforming accounts effectively.
- Alerting management to concerning trends and recommending appropriate actions.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal policies.
- Support the broader development of the organization by:
- Participating in due diligence for potential acquisitions.
- Completing special projects as necessary.
- Oversee daily operations in alignment with the organization's risk culture and appetite, reinforcing these principles within the team.
- Foster an environment where the team effectively manages their portfolios while adhering to operational risk controls and compliance requirements.
- Contribute to a high-performance culture and talent strategy that attracts, retains, and develops team members, promoting an inclusive workplace.
Qualifications:
- Extensive credit experience with 5-10 years in lending (experience in IPL structuring is advantageous).
- Fluency in Spanish is essential due to the geographic scope of the role.
- Strong analytical capabilities.
- Proven management skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
- Familiarity with workout situations.
- Proficient in computer applications.
- Understanding of competitive practices and economic trends.
- A degree in business or a diversified banking background; an MBA or CA designation is a plus.
