Director of Credit Risk for International Wealth Management

The Director of Credit Risk is responsible for ensuring the overall credit integrity of a specified portfolio within International Wealth Management loans while collaborating on effective policy and growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote a customer-centric culture within the team to enhance client relationships and leverage broader banking resources and expertise;
- Work closely with International Private Banking on transaction assessments and risk appetite discussions, while contributing to the cultivation of a risk-aware culture within the business;
- Partner with International Private Banking to streamline policies and processes in International Wealth Management and identify strategic growth opportunities;
- Evaluate credit applications within designated limits as a Credit Officer, providing recommendations for exceptions to the Senior Credit Committee, and authorizing necessary waivers and amendments;
- Collaborate with local credit units and International Wealth Management teams to provide guidance on complex transactions;
- Ensure sustainable and profitable growth in Wealth Management credit portfolios by:
- Making informed and timely credit decisions within assigned limits, supported by thorough analysis and appropriate structuring;
- Contributing to the formulation and execution of lending policies and strategies;
- Identifying additional market opportunities.
- Maintain the existing portfolio's quality and risk profile by:
- Monitoring the assigned portfolio and approved credits across various dimensions, ensuring compliance with credit conditions and addressing issues promptly;
- Proactively identifying and managing underperforming accounts;
- Alerting management to concerning trends and proposing appropriate actions;
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal policies.
- Support the broader development of the Bank by engaging in various duties, including:
- Participating in due diligence for potential acquisitions;
- Completing special projects as needed.
- Oversee daily operations in alignment with the Bank's risk culture and established risk appetite, reinforcing these principles throughout the team.
- Encourage an environment where the team effectively manages their portfolios while adhering to operational risk controls and compliance standards.
- Contribute to a high-performance culture and talent strategy that attracts, retains, and develops team members by fostering an inclusive workplace and managing succession planning.
Qualifications:
- Extensive credit experience with 5-10 years in lending (experience in IPL structuring is advantageous);
- Fluency in Spanish is essential due to the geographic scope of the role;
- Strong analytical capabilities;
- Proven management skills;
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities;
- Familiarity with workout scenarios;
- Proficient computer skills;
- Understanding of competitive practices and market trends;
- A degree in business or a diverse background in banking; an MBA or CA designation is a plus.
