Head of Credit Risk for International Wealth Management

The Director of International Wealth Management Credit Risk is responsible for overseeing the credit quality of a specified portfolio related to International Wealth Management loans, while also collaborating on effective policy and growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote a customer-centric culture within the team to enhance client relationships and leverage broader banking connections, systems, and expertise;
- Work closely with International Private Banking on transactions and risk appetite discussions, contributing to the development and training of a robust risk culture within the business line;
- Partner with International Private Banking to streamline policies and processes in International Wealth Management and identify viable growth opportunities;
- Make credit adjudications within assigned limits as a designated Credit Officer, provide recommendations for over-limit or out-of-policy transactions to the Senior Credit Committee, and authorize waivers, amendments, and non-standard documentation;
- Collaborate with local credit units and International Wealth Management teams to provide guidance and feedback on atypical transactions as necessary;
- Ensure sustainable and profitable growth in Wealth Management credit portfolios by:
- Delivering sound and timely credit application decisions within assigned lending limits through comprehensive analysis and appropriate structuring, pricing, conditions, and security;
- Contributing to the formulation and execution of lending policies and strategies;
- Staying vigilant to emerging market opportunities.
- Maintain the existing portfolio at an acceptable quality and risk level by:
- Monitoring the assigned portfolio and approved credits across geographic, industry, and customer/product segments, ensuring compliance with credit conditions, identifying issues, and taking timely remedial actions;
- Ensuring early identification and effective management of weak and unsatisfactory accounts;
- Alerting management to unfavorable trends and recommending appropriate actions;
- Monitoring compliance with regulatory and internal policies as applicable.
- Support the broader development of the Bank by undertaking various duties, including:
- Participating in due diligence for potential acquisitions;
- Completing special projects as needed.
- Direct daily operations in alignment with the Bank's risk culture and relevant risk appetite statements and limits, reinforcing these principles throughout the team.
- Encourage an environment where the team effectively manages their portfolios while adhering to operational risk, regulatory compliance, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk controls.
- Contribute to a high-performance culture and people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates team members by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vision, values, and business strategy; and managing succession and development planning.
Qualifications:
- Extensive credit background with 5-10 years of lending experience (experience in IPL structuring is advantageous);
- Fluency in Spanish due to the geographic scope of the team;
- Exceptional analytical capabilities;
- Strong management skills;
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities;
- Knowledge of workout situations;
- Proficient computer skills;
- Awareness of competitor practices, economic trends, and business developments;
- Business degree and/or a well-rounded background in Banking. An MBA or CA designation would be beneficial;
