Mental Health Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Nurse Specialist to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with mental health and substance use challenges.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will work collaboratively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive treatment services, including crisis intervention, individual counseling, and education. You will be responsible for assessing client needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and promoting recovery-oriented care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide treatment services, including crisis intervention, individual counseling, and education to clients and their informal support networks.
- Assess client needs and develop and implement individualized care plans that promote recovery-oriented care.
- Collaborate with interprofessional care teams to ensure seamless care coordination and transitions.
- Provide education and support to clients and their families on managing mental health and substance use challenges.
- Document assessments, care plans, observations, interventions, client/family responses, outcomes/evaluations, and referrals according to practice standards and Fraser Health procedures.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A degree in nursing or psychiatric nursing from an approved school.
- Two years recent related experience providing treatment services to individuals with mental health and/or concurrent disorders.
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and access to personal vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage.
The salary for this position is approximately $54,000 per year, based on a 37.5 hour workweek. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including extended health and dental coverage, life insurance, and a pension plan.
