Service Operations Manager

Brandt Truck & Trailer is seeking a Service Manager for our Grande Prairie location. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the inspection and pre-delivery of all new and used equipment, including component diagnostics, repair, and replacement. This includes managing all aspects of the service department and day-to-day activity of foremen, leadhands, service writers, and shop, field, and resident mechanics.
Key Responsibilities- Manage service workflow and ensure efficient use of resources
- Enforce standards, policies, and reporting practices to meet established standards
- Develop and manage the Service Department budget to meet financial and operational goals
- Prepare quotes for customer work orders and open and close work orders
- Inspect and operate customer equipment to resolve concerns and diagnose issues
- Monitor service revenue and expenses monthly
- Ensure work is performed according to established safety and industry standards
- Review employee performance against goals on an ongoing basis
- Maintain a high-performance Service team through hiring, training, coaching, mentoring, and performance management in a safe environment
- Effective communication and professionalism with customers, employees, and branch personnel at all levels
- Self-motivation in learning and applying new knowledge and skills, with a willingness to share knowledge with others
- Ability to travel to customer worksites and operate and work on or around heavy equipment
- Proficiency in using work-related desktop applications and web-based productivity applications
- Confidence, critical thinking, knowledge, and technical skills to assess and solve customer, business, and personnel problems effectively and efficiently
- A recent driver's abstract will be required
- Strong commitment to occupational health and safety
- 5-7 years' progressive experience in service, management, and business, including journeyperson heavy duty mechanic and 3 years' management/supervisory experience in the heavy duty equipment industry
- Solid foundation of knowledge and skill in the operation of a heavy duty equipment dealership
- Ability to organize work, set priorities, and achieve work-related objectives and goals
- Strong customer service orientation and sound judgment when dealing with customers
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers, employees, and branch personnel at all levels
- Self-motivation in learning and applying new knowledge and skills, with a willingness to share knowledge with others
