Service Operations Manager

Brandt Truck & Trailer is seeking a seasoned Service Manager to oversee the inspection and pre-delivery of new and used equipment. This role involves managing the service department, day-to-day activities of foremen, leadhands, service writers, and shop, field, and resident mechanics.
Key Responsibilities- Service Workflow Management: Oversee the inspection and pre-delivery process to ensure timely and efficient delivery of equipment.
- Standards and Policies Enforcement: Ensure that all service department activities adhere to established standards, policies, and reporting practices.
- Service Department Budget Management: Develop and manage the Service Department budget to meet financial and operational goals.
- Quote Preparation and Work Order Management: Prepare quotes for customer work orders and manage the opening and closing of work orders.
- Equipment Inspection and Operation: Inspect and operate customer equipment to resolve concerns and diagnose issues.
- Service Revenue and Expense Monitoring: Monitor service revenue and expenses on a monthly basis.
- Safety and Industry Standards: Ensure that all work is performed according to established safety and industry standards.
- Employee Performance Management: Review employee performance against goals on an ongoing basis.
- Team Development and Management: Maintain a high-performance Service team through hiring, training, coaching, mentoring, and performance management in a safe environment.
- Effective Communication: Communicate effectively and professionally with customers, employees, and branch personnel at all levels.
- Self-Motivation and Knowledge Sharing: Be self-motivated in learning and applying new knowledge and skills and be willing to share knowledge with others.
- Travel and Heavy Equipment Operation: Be able to travel to customer worksites and operate or work on or around heavy equipment as required.
- Technical Skills: Be proficient in using work-related desktop applications and web-based productivity applications.
- Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: Have the confidence, critical thinking, knowledge, and technical skills to assess and solve customer, business, and personnel problems effectively and efficiently.
- Driver's Abstract: A recent driver's abstract will be required.
- Occupational Health and Safety Commitment: Demonstrate a strong commitment to occupational health and safety.
- Progressive Experience: 5-7 years' progressive, combined experience in service, management, and business, including journeyperson heavy duty mechanic experience and 3 years' management/supervisory experience in the heavy duty equipment industry.
- Heavy Duty Equipment Industry Knowledge: Have a solid foundation of knowledge and skill in the operation of a heavy duty equipment dealership.
- Organizational and Prioritization Skills: Demonstrate the ability to organize work, set priorities, and achieve work-related objectives and goals.
- Customer Service Orientation: Demonstrate a strong customer service orientation and exercise sound judgment when dealing with customers.
- Effective Communication and Proficiency: Be able to communicate effectively and professionally with customers, employees, and branch personnel at all levels, and be proficient in using work-related desktop applications and web-based productivity applications.
