Physical Education Department Head

The Physical Education Department Head plays a pivotal role in leading and representing a team of colleagues in all matters related to learning and teaching, curriculum, and assessment in Physical Education. This includes collaborating with other Department Heads to ensure vertical and horizontal continuity and progression, and participating in decision-making about the school's educational programme.
Key Responsibilities- Uphold and advance the school's vision, mission, values, and standards
- Set an example of integrity, commitment, collegiality, and competence
- Determine and implement departmental goals on an annual basis that reflect the academic priorities of the school
- Maintain and advance the department image in the school
- Participate in leadership meetings and run regular department meetings and planning sessions
- Monitor student academic performance, achievement, and any academic misconduct
- Ensure that scope & sequence and course plans are complete and maintained
- Improve & develop the department's educational practices
- Bachelor's Degree in a kinesiology-related field is preferred
- BC Teacher Certification (Teachers Regulation Branch) in the form of a Certificate of Qualification (CoQ) or Independent School Teaching Certificate (ISTC)
- 2+ years of experience teaching Physical Education
- Master's Degree in Education, or Leadership (or must start one within 3 years)
- Provides a dynamic, innovative, adaptive, and enthusiastic learning experience for students

- Strong organizational, time management skills
- An active commitment to ongoing professional growth and development
