Position Overview

The Head of the Physical Education Department is tasked with guiding and advocating for a team of professionals in areas concerning education and pedagogy, curriculum development, and assessment within Physical Education. This role necessitates collaboration with fellow Department Heads to ensure a cohesive and progressive educational framework. The Department Head is instrumental in fostering exemplary teaching and learning practices in PE, in alignment with the strategic objectives of the institution.

Key Responsibilities

The Department Head is accountable for establishing departmental objectives, enhancing the department's reputation, monitoring student outcomes, refining educational methodologies, and more. Additional responsibilities include overseeing faculty development, assessment methodologies, departmental budget management, external facility coordination, and active participation in academic teams and school events.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications encompass a Bachelor's Degree in a kinesiology-related discipline, BC Teacher Certification, experience in teaching Physical Education, a Master's Degree in Education or Leadership, and familiarity with working with students with diverse learning needs. Experience in independent schools and a background in coaching are advantageous.
