About the Role
This Mental Health Nursing Specialist position is an exciting opportunity to join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals. As a key member of our mental health services, you will work closely with patients, families, and interprofessional teams to provide high-quality care and support.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is CAD $41.42 - $59.52 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Job Description
In this role, you will perform initial and ongoing mental health assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and provide crisis intervention and counseling services as needed. You will also collaborate with emergency department staff, community mental health teams, and other healthcare providers to ensure seamless patient care and flow.

Key Responsibilities
• Perform initial and ongoing mental health assessments, including psychosocial evaluations and collateral information gathering.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans that address patients' physical, emotional, and social needs.
• Provide crisis intervention and counseling services, including group facilitation and education.
• Collaborate with emergency department staff, community mental health teams, and other healthcare providers to ensure seamless patient care and flow.
• Document assessments, care plans, and patient outcomes according to practice standards and hospital procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will require:
• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing, plus current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• One year recent related experience in an acute or community mental health setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Strong assessment and communication skills, with ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to promote person-centered care that demonstrates empathy, respect, and trust.
