Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Aquatic Safety Professional to join our team at YMCA Calgary. As a Lifeguard (Full Time), you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our members and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure a safe aquatic environment by following National Lifeguard standards and/or YMCA Policies and Procedures
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service and knowledge of YMCA programs and services
  • Complete administrative tasks, update class rosters, lesson plans, check equipment, clean equipment, perform light maintenance tasks when not guarding or instructing
  • Perform all scheduled water tests and keep pool area clean and organized
  • Respond to emergencies according to National Lifeguard standards and/or YMCA Policies and Procedures
  • Work as a team; communicate effectively with staff, volunteers and members in all situations
  • Attend all scheduled in-services and attend all necessary YMCA training
Requirements
  • National Lifeguard - Pool certification
  • Standard First Aid (recertified within the last 36 months)
  • CPR C certification (recertified within the last 12 months)
  • Lifesaving Instructor would be considered an asset
  • Evidence of a clear Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Three professional references
