Location: MNP Community & Sport Centre

Position Overview: As an Aquatic Program Instructor, your primary responsibility will be to provide a secure and enjoyable environment for patrons utilizing our aquatic facilities. This role emphasizes prevention, response, and exceptional customer service combined with effective teaching methodologies.

Reporting Structure: You will report to the Aquatic Programs Manager, Aquatic Programs Coordinator, and Aquatic Shift Leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Lifesaving Society and other aquatic programs at MNP Community & Sport Centre in a safe and effective manner.
  • Conduct a minimum of two lesson sets per session during the initial year of employment, with at least one set in subsequent years.
  • Maintain up-to-date certifications.
  • Exhibit a professional demeanor and appearance consistently.
  • Uphold a high standard of customer interaction.
  • Participate in all scheduled in-service training sessions.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities.
  • Prepare and manage relevant activity reports and administrative tasks.
  • Address or escalate programs and situations as they arise within the facility.
  • Maintain the fitness level necessary for effective instruction.
  • Innovate and integrate new teaching methods and activities using both internal and external resources.
  • Assist in planning and leading special event days for Aquatic Programs.
  • Ensure participant safety and readiness for emergency evacuations.
  • Submit availability quarterly by the specified deadline.
  • Instruct lessons with a minimum of two three-hour shifts weekly.
  • Complete the Aquatic Instructor Training Program prior to the first teaching shift.
  • Collaborate closely with the Aquatic Program Manager, Coordinator, and Shift Leaders in the development of both short-term and long-term aquatic programs.
