Senior Research Facility Manager

The University of Waterloo seeks a highly skilled and experienced Senior Research Facility Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Giga-to-Nanoelectronics (G2N) Lab. This is a unique opportunity to lead a world-class facility and contribute to cutting-edge research in nanocrystalline silicon technology.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the facility's operations, including supervision of technical and research staff, graduate and undergraduate students, and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
- Ensure the lab operates on a revenue-neutral basis, with expenses offset by user charges.
- Develop and implement safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with faculty members to plan and procure equipment and supplies, and manage laboratory budgets.
- Source major assets for laboratory upgrades and expansion to meet new research requirements.
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, or Materials Science, with a PhD preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in industrial research and manufacturing, with a strong background in Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, and Materials Science.
- Excellent troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair skills for high-vacuum systems, precision optical systems, and other complex equipment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience in managing technical staff and collaborating with faculty members.
