The Industrial Millwright Specialist role at Superior Essex is a unique opportunity to join our team as a highly skilled mechanical problem solver.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Millwright with expertise in installing, dismantling, maintaining, and repairing machinery and equipment. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex issues.

Main Responsibilities

  • Inspect machinery as it arrives, unload parts, and assemble them using safe and effective hand and power tools
  • Relocate unassembled equipment, positioning machinery and pieces for assembly, using hoists, dollies, and trucks
  • Interpret blueprints and schematics to determine work procedures
  • Dismantle machines using hammers, crowbars, wrenches, and other hand or power tools
  • Construct foundations for new equipment, using building materials such as wood, cement, and steel
  • Align machines and equipment during installation, using hoists, jacks, squares, ruler, micrometers, and plumb bobs
  • Use a lathe to grind, file, and turn machine parts to match specifications
  • Assemble machinery and equipment by bolting, welding, riveting, or fastening to pre-built foundations
  • Diagnose problems and perform necessary repairs, often involving screwdrivers, wrenches, and welding torches
  • Adhere to assembly and installation instructions from vendor manuals and specifications
  • Repair issues associated with new equipment
  • Fabricate new machine parts if original parts are missing or damaged
  • In addition to installation and repair, Millwrights may assist with plant maintenance, such as installing guardrails and fans, or rebuilding broken-down machinery
  • Identify and correct problems found in machines, equipment, or processes to facilitate production
  • Maintain working machines by cleaning, oiling, and greasing parts; use computer diagnostic tools when necessary
  • Lead apprentices and direct them to ensure task completion
  • Ensure safety policies, quality standards, and standard operating procedures are followed
  • Perform preventative maintenance once machines and equipment are operational
  • Complete all required paperwork
  • Verify ongoing compliance with local, national, and international standards and legislation

Requirements

  • Completion of a Red Seal valid Industrial Mechanic Millwright Certification or equivalent experience
  • Industrial Maintenance/Maintenance Millwright Technology college completion
  • Experience moving, assembling, disassembling, troubleshooting, and repairing various types of machinery and equipment
  • Able to detect, isolate, and identify irregularities and malfunctions in machinery and equipment
  • Competent in fabricating new parts to replace defective parts during machine setup, maintenance, or overhaul
  • Thorough knowledge of load-bearing capabilities of equipment to be installed, assembled, or dismembered
  • Demonstrated aptitude in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and specifications, mathematics
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with quality standards
  • Accurate and highly analytical
  • Experience supervising and mentoring apprentices
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude

Working Conditions

  • Travel may be required
  • Able to lift and carry objects up to 100 lbs
  • Manual dexterity required to use power and hand tools
  • Frequently noisy working environment
  • Overtime as required

  • 12-hour continental shifts

Compensation Package

$120,000 - $150,000 per year, based on experience
