Industrial Millwright Specialist

Job Summary
The Industrial Millwright Specialist is responsible for installing, dismantling, maintaining, and repairing machinery and equipment at Superior Essex. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems with equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and assemble machinery, using hoists, lift trucks, and hand tools
- Relocate and position equipment, using hoists, dollies, and trucks
- Interpret blueprints and schematics to determine work procedures
- Dismantle machines, using hammers, crowbars, wrenches, and other hand or power tools
- Construct foundations for new equipment, using building materials
- Align machines and equipment during installation, using hoists, jacks, squares, ruler, micrometers, and plumb bobs
- Use a lathe to grind, file, and turn machine parts to match specifications
- Assemble machinery and equipment, bolting, welding, riveting, or fastening them to pre-built foundations
- Diagnose and repair problems, often using screwdrivers, wrenches, and welding torches
- Adhere to assembly and installation instructions in vendor manuals and specifications
- Repair problems associated with new equipment
- Fabricate new machine parts if original parts are missing or damaged
- Perform plant maintenance, such as installing guardrails and fans
- Identify and correct problems in machines, equipment, or processes to facilitate production
- Monitor and maintain working machines, cleaning, oiling, and greasing machine parts
- Lead apprentices and direct them to ensure successful task completion
- Ensure safety policies, quality standards, and standard operating procedures are followed
- Perform preventative maintenance on machines and equipment
- Complete all paperwork as required
- Ensure ongoing compliance with local, national, and international standards and legislation
Requirements
- Completion of a Red Seal valid Industrial Mechanic Millwright Certification
- Industrial Maintenance/Maintenance Millwright Technology college completion
- Experience in moving, assembling, disassembling, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery and equipment
- Ability to detect, isolate, and identify irregularities and malfunctions in machinery and equipment
- Ability to fabricate new parts to replace defective parts during machine setup, maintenance, or overhaul
- Thorough knowledge of load bearing capabilities of equipment
- Demonstrated aptitude in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and specifications, mathematics
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with quality standards
- Accurate and highly analytical
- Experience in supervising and mentoring apprentices
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
Working Conditions
- Travel may be required
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 100 lbs
- Manual dexterity required to use power and hand tools
- Frequently noisy working environment
- Overtime as required
