The Role

We're seeking an experienced Youth Strategy Development Manager to oversee all aspects of planning and deliver the work plan activities for our Youth Homelessness Prevention and Housing Stabilization Strategy. This involves developing a system of care with service coordination and system transformation for youth at risk of or experiencing homelessness in York Region.

You'll work closely with stakeholders to develop and implement a cross-sectoral strategy to prevent and end youth homelessness across the region, involving community-based service providers, regional policy makers, researchers, decision-makers from government systems impacting youth homelessness, and youth with lived expertise of homelessness.

The goal is to ensure timely supports for youth to shorten their experience of homelessness and reduce re-occurrence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engagement and Collaboration: Develop processes to engage youth with lived experience throughout development stages. Work with youth with lived expertise to ensure 'nothing about us without us' philosophy.
  • Communication and Project Support: Communicate proactively with partners, ensuring participation in subcommittees and providing encouragement as needed. Support project teams, clarifying roles and responsibilities.
  • Facilitation and Leadership: Foster a collaborative environment, maintain effective communication with various stakeholders, facilitate steering committee and subcommittee meetings, and align project objectives with Youth Strategies goals and funder expectations.
  • Project Management and Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain best practices to ensure quality and consistency of strategy deliverables.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Coordination: Engage a range of stakeholders, including government systems and decision-makers affecting youth homelessness. Coordinate activities of the steering committee and maintain ongoing liaison for good governance, common agenda, and vision guiding strategy development activities.
  • Issue Resolution and Reporting: Address issues, resolve conflicts, and provide project coordination support (note-taking, meeting space, record keeping, ongoing communication). Monitor progress continuously, reporting on measurable items like milestones, KPIs, and deliverables.
About You

We're looking for someone with a CYW degree or diploma in a related Human Services discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of two years of coordination experience working with street-involved youth, awareness of homeless, sexual, mental health, abuse, and addiction issues youth face, and experience in related Human Services disciplines relevant to the Youth Strategy are essential.

Demonstrated capacity to negotiate with diverse stakeholders, excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and strong project management skills with ability to multi-task and set priorities within tight timelines are also necessary.

Salary Range

$60,000 - $80,000 per year based on qualifications and experience.
