Job Title: Director, TRU Wildfire

Thompson Rivers University is seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of Director, TRU Wildfire. This is a unique opportunity to lead a cutting-edge research, education, and innovation initiative focused on wildland fire.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for the research, innovation, and education aspects of TRU Wildfire.
  • Secure funding from provincial, national, and international organizations to support the initiative.
  • Lead the development and execution of calls for proposals, letters of intent, and expressions of interest.
  • Collaborate with government, industry, Indigenous community partners, and academic institutions to advance the goals of TRU Wildfire.
  • Provide administrative leadership and support to the development and execution of research and education programs.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including faculty, government agencies, and industry partners.
  • Oversee the planning and development of national and international meetings and events.
  • Ensure efficient operations and knowledge translation and mobilization programs.
Qualifications:
  • PhD in a related field or Master's degree with relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of wildland fire research and education.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, especially Indigenous and equity-deserving groups.
  • Research creation and completion experience, ideally with independent research.
  • Experience with academic development and approval processes.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to develop, interpret, and apply complex policies and procedures.
