We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to fill the role of Director, TRU Wildfire Research, Innovation, Education (RIE). This is a unique opportunity to lead a cutting-edge research and education initiative focused on wildland fire.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategic plans for the research, innovation, and education aspects of TRU Wildfire.
- Secure funding for core operational funds and manage deliverables as outlined in contract agreements.
- Provide administrative leadership for calls for proposals, letters of intent, and expressions of interest, including evaluation and peer review.
- Build and maintain collaborations and structural links among research, innovation, and education.
- Work closely with TRU Wildfire training leadership and practice to ensure coordinated activities and efforts.
- Provide project management support to Deans and others for new programming, research, and innovation efforts related to wildfire.
- Develop and maintain communications and relationships with investigators, government departments, industry, professional associations, and other organizations.
- Establish good working relationships with community groups, Indigenous research partners, and funders to achieve the goals of TRU Wildfire.
- PhD in a related field; Master's degree with relevant experience may be considered.
- Content knowledge or lived experience is a strong asset.
- Experience working with diverse populations, especially Indigenous and equity-deserving groups.
- Research creation and completion experience, ideally independent research.
- Experience with academic development and approval processes.
- Experience collaborating with faculty on research and/or other projects.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to develop, interpret, and apply complex policies and procedures.
- Advanced computer literacy, including word processing, budget spreadsheets, database, and PowerPoint presentations.
