Reporting directly to the leadership team of TRU Wildfire, this role will play a pivotal part in shaping the future of wildfire education and research. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the wildfire landscape, coupled with proven experience in program development, stakeholder engagement, and financial management.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for TRU Wildfire Training, ensuring alignment with the overall goals of the initiative.
  • Secure funding from diverse sources, including provincial, national, and international organizations, to support core operational expenses and program growth.
  • Provide visionary leadership and administrative oversight to all aspects of TRU Wildfire Training, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with government agencies, industry partners, Indigenous communities, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions to identify training needs and develop tailored programs.
  • Collaborate closely with the TRU Wildfire Research, Innovation, and Education leadership team to ensure seamless integration and coordination across all aspects of the initiative.
  • Oversee project management activities related to new program development, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders at all levels.
Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess a combination of education, experience, and skills that demonstrate their ability to excel in this challenging role.

  • A Master's degree or higher in a relevant field such as Education, Environmental Science, Public Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation within the post-secondary education sector.
  • Proven track record of securing funding from diverse sources, including government grants and private foundations.
  • Strong understanding of wildfire management principles, policies, and best practices.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in managing teams and projects.
