Job Summary

Thompson Rivers University is seeking a highly qualified Director to lead the TRU Wildfire Training initiative. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and direction to the program, ensuring its success and growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for the TRU Wildfire Training initiative.
  • Lead the development and delivery of high-quality wildfire training programs, in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with government agencies, industry partners, and other organizations to support the growth and success of the program.
  • Provide administrative leadership and oversight to the program, including budget management, resource allocation, and personnel management.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders, including university administrators, faculty, and staff.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in wildfire training and education, and apply this knowledge to inform program development and delivery.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a relevant field, or Bachelor's degree with significant experience and content knowledge.
  • Significant experience in developing and delivering training programs, preferably in a post-secondary setting.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
  • Advanced computer literacy, including word processing, budgeting, and database management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including Indigenous and equity-deserving groups.
  • Experience with post-secondary systems and collegial governance.
  • Experience supporting and/or leading high-level strategic initiatives.
