Job Description:

The successful candidate will have a valid Security License for Ontario and relevant experience in healthcare security. They will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The role involves a range of responsibilities, including:

  • Presenting a smart, visible, and alert security presence
  • Greeting and assisting members of the public visiting the premises
  • Ensuring the safety and security of clients, buildings, and assets
  • Working effectively, both independently and as part of a team
  • Carrying out all security duties as specified (including, but not limited to): proactive/reactive interior & exterior patrols, response & assistance in emergency situations, documenting & reporting of any/all security events on shift, investigating routine incidents, patient watches, parking & smoking by-law enforcement, hospital policy awareness & enforcement, access control/key control, monthly safety inspections, and additional duties as assigned

In addition, the ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of healthcare policies and procedures, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be considered for this exciting opportunity, applicants must possess the following qualifications:

  • Valid Security License for Ontario
  • Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
  • Proof of minimum double COVID-19 vaccination
  • A copy of immunization records (Measles, Mumps, Rubella [MMR], Varicella, and TB Skin Tests - Step 1 & 2)
  • 6+ months security experience required
  • Previous healthcare security experience is preferred
  • Must be able to commute to Kingston for pre-deployment training
  • Must have a reliable working vehicle in good repair
  • Must be able to site train at all 4 QHC facilities (Belleville, Trenton, Picton, and Bancroft)
  • Must be able to be clean shaven to pass an N95 Mask Fit Test
  • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB)
