Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Housing Development Coordinator to join our team at the Town of Hay River. As a key member of our administration department, you will play a critical role in overseeing the implementation of our strategic housing plan.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the execution of our housing development initiatives, working closely with stakeholders, including local developers, community partners, and government agencies. This includes scheduling regular meetings, promoting housing development opportunities, and providing subject matter expertise to inform decision-making.

You will also be responsible for coordinating the increase of development-ready residential land inventory, updating our land development plan, researching incentives and disincentives, and recommending changes to relevant legislation.

In addition, you will establish a financial plan, identify and apply for funding opportunities, and ensure that spending is in accordance with funding agreements. You will demonstrate sound project management principles, preparing and monitoring project spending, creating schedules and task lists, and tracking key performance indicators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the execution of our housing development initiatives, working closely with stakeholders
  • Coordinate the increase of development-ready residential land inventory
  • Establish a financial plan, identify and apply for funding opportunities, and ensure spending is in accordance with funding agreements
  • Demonstrate sound project management principles, preparing and monitoring project spending, creating schedules and task lists, and tracking key performance indicators
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A post-secondary degree in business administration, planning, or a related field
  • Three years of progressive experience in housing development, project management, or a related field
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • A strong understanding of construction, housing development, project management, affordable housing delivery, grant processes, and local government functions
