About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Indigenous Cultural Wellness Specialist to join our Shkaabe Makwa, Clinical Services team. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our interprofessional team to provide traditional teachings, spiritual counselling, cultural supports, and healing ceremonies for clients, patients, and families.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have at least 7 years of experience providing cultural support to individuals with substance use and mental health concerns. You will possess demonstrated skills and knowledge applying traditional healing practices within a hospital or clinical environment, including conducting ceremonies according to your protocols, teachings, and culture. Your expertise in concurrent disorders, harm reduction, trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and client safety is essential.

  • You will be recognized as a Cultural Care Practitioner (Traditional Healer, Elder, Cultural Resource, Knowledge Keeper, etc.) by the Indigenous community.
  • You will be able to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic team environment.
  • You will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, including therapeutic engagement, conflict resolution, group facilitation, and written and verbal communication.
  • You will have experience working with Two-Spirit, 2SLGBTQ+ clients and be comfortable addressing their unique needs.
  • You will be proficient in using electronic health record systems and other computer software.
