About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Diagnostic Imaging Technologist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a Diagnostic Imaging Technologist, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care while operating radiological/accessory equipment with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of diagnostic or therapeutic procedures requiring the use of ionizing radiation, applying the ALARA principle.
  • Continuously remain responsive to and responsible for each patient in their care.
  • Effective communication in a multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary environment while fostering a culture of safety in the workplace.
  • Travel to other sites may be required.

Requirements:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Radiological Technology.
  • Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) certification.
  • Nova Scotia College of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Professionals (NSCMIRTP) licensure.
  • Previous experience is an asset.
  • Qualification to work in more than one Diagnostic Imaging modality is an asset.
  • Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Ability to use time effectively by organizing and prioritizing duties, while working independently and under minimal supervision.
  • Possess the physical capabilities to perform the duties of the position.
  • Demonstrates initiative, organizational and prioritizing skills; and the demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively within inter-professional teams.
  • Comprehension of the technical language to be able to review and use manuals and take part in relevant discussions.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Casual relief position.
  • Shift work required, evenings, nights, weekends and holiday coverage.
  • Rotation to other areas in Central Zone Diagnostic Imaging may be required.

Compensation and Benefits:

$30.83 - $37.54 hourly
