Adult Music Educator

About the Opportunity

The City of St. John's is seeking a skilled Adult Music Educator to lead our Adult Fiddle programs. As a key member of our Community Services team, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and delivering fiddle skills to adults in a group setting.

Key Accountabilities

  • Plan and deliver fiddle instruction to adults at various skill levels
  • Consult with the Community Programs and Services-Adult & Seniors Coordinator to ensure program alignment and success
  • Lead weekly programs and provide direct leadership to participants
  • Source and maintain necessary supplies for the program
  • Monitor and track attendance

Requirements

  • Recognized training or experience in fiddle instruction
  • Experience teaching fiddle programs in a group setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with adult populations
  • Formal education or certification in music education would be an asset

Additional Requirements

  • Successful applicant will be required to obtain a current Criminal Record Screening Certificate and Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Develop and submit lesson plan content prior to start of employment

Working Conditions

Program Schedule: Wednesday's from 1:30-2:30pm weekly

This is a temporary position with a duration of September to June 2024
