About the Opportunity

The City of St. John's is seeking a skilled Fiddle instructor to lead adult fiddle programs. As a member of our Community Services team, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and delivering fiddle skills to adults in a group setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver fiddle lessons to adults at various skill levels
  • Consult with the Community Programs and Services-Adult & Seniors Coordinator to ensure program quality and effectiveness
  • Lead weekly fiddle programs and maintain a positive learning environment
  • Request and manage necessary supplies for the program
  • Monitor attendance and track program progress

Requirements

  • Recognized training or experience in Fiddle instruction
  • Experience teaching Fiddle programs in a group setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with adult populations
  • Formal education or certification in music education would be an asset

Additional Requirements

  • Successful applicant will be required to obtain a current Criminal Record Screening Certificate and Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Develop specific lesson plan content prior to the start of employment

Working Conditions

Program Schedule: Wednesday's from 1:30-2:30pm weekly

Period of Employment: September 2023 - June 2024
