Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated English Language Learning (ELL) teacher to join our team at the Abbotsford School District. As an itinerant ELL teacher, you will work directly with English language learners at assigned elementary, middle, and/or secondary schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate Assessment and Instruction Plans (AIPs) using appropriate testing materials such as IPT or BC ELL Standards.
  • Model culturally responsive teaching and support English language learners with inquiry-based learning.
  • Administer and interpret IPT Assessments, and use technology to facilitate language acquisition.
  • Implement the blended model of instruction to support English language acquisition, and lead collaboration meetings, co-teach, co-assess, and co-plan with colleagues.
  • Build connections and present to stakeholders, including school-based teams, District departments, parents, community services, and more.
Requirements
  • Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) Certificate from an accredited program.
  • Abbotsford Academic English Language Program certification.
  • Experience teaching ELL learners at the elementary, middle, or secondary school levels.
  • Valid BC Driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
  • Eligible for B.C. Certification.

  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Collaborate with others to achieve group goals and objectives.
  • Caring & Inclusiveness: Create and maintain an environment that is caring, inclusive, and supportive of all students.
  • Flexibility & Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility in the ability to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances.
