About the Role

The Abbotsford School District is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated English Language Learning Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our educational community, you will play a vital role in providing a world-class, innovative educational experience for our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create inquiry/project-based learning experiences that explore big ideas and concepts, allowing students to thrive in a complex knowledge construction environment.
  • Develop and implement effective instructional strategies to support English language learners at the secondary level.
  • Administer and interpret IPT Assessments, and provide individual and small group student support.
  • Utilize technology to facilitate language acquisition and create engaging learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve group goals and objectives, and contribute to a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Requirements
  • Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) Certificate from an accredited program.
  • Training and experience administering and interpreting IPT Assessments.
  • Familiarity with IELTS instruction and the BC ELL Standards.
  • Experience teaching ELL learners at the secondary level and using technology to facilitate language acquisition.
  • Eligibility for Abbotsford Academic English Language Program certificate and B.C. Certification.
