About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated English Language Learning Specialist to join our team at the Abbotsford School District. As an Itinerant ELL Teacher, you will work directly with English language learners at assigned elementary, middle, and/or secondary schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate AIPs using appropriate testing materials such as IPT or BC ELL Standards
  • Model culturally responsive teaching and support English language learners with inquiry-based learning
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop and implement effective English language acquisition strategies
  • Provide professional development and support to teachers on English language learning best practices
  • Build connections and present to stakeholders on English language learning initiatives
Requirements
  • Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) Certificate from an accredited program
  • Abbotsford Academic English Language Program certification
  • Training and experience administering and interpreting IPT Assessments
  • Experience teaching ELL learners at the elementary, middle, or secondary school levels
  • Experience using technology to facilitate language acquisition
  • Experience with the blended model of instruction to support English language acquisition
  • Experience implementing the full cycle of teacher collaboration
  • Valid BC Driver's license and access to personal vehicle
  • Eligible for B.C. Certification
  • Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports

The starting annual salary for this School Teacher position ranges from $61,838 to $108,458, with placement on the July 1, 2024 Teacher Salary Grid based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
