About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated English Language Learning Specialist to join our team at the Abbotsford School District. As a key member of our educational community, you will play a vital role in creating engaging and inclusive learning environments for our students.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering inquiry-based learning experiences that foster critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills in our students. You will work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement project-based learning initiatives that promote language acquisition and cultural understanding.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver engaging and inclusive learning experiences that cater to the diverse needs of our students
  • Develop and implement project-based learning initiatives that promote language acquisition and cultural understanding
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Assess student learning and provide constructive feedback to support student growth and development
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in language acquisition and education
Requirements
  • TESL Certificate from an accredited program
  • Training and experience administering and interpreting IPT Assessments
  • Familiarity with IELTS instruction
  • Familiarity with the BC ELL Standards
  • Experience teaching ELL learners at the Secondary level
  • Experience with individual and small group student support
  • Experience using technology to facilitate language acquisition
  • Eligible for Abbotsford Academic English Language Program certificate
  • Eligible for B.C. Certification
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $61,838 to $108,458, with placement on the July 1, 2024 Teacher Salary Grid based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional development and growth.
