About the Role

The Scheduling Clerk is a key member of the Bethany Care Society team, responsible for providing exceptional support to staff within their designated scope of practice. This role requires a passion for delivering outstanding service to residents, families, and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Resident-Centered Care: Ensure efficient and accurate staff scheduling, responding to employee inquiries in a timely and service-focused manner. Allocate and call in relief staff to fill vacancies, distribute scheduling to nursing units, and promote service excellence.
  • Documentation: Accurately document staff scheduling in alignment with Bethany policies and procedures. Forward scheduling information to payroll within established timelines, process requests such as vacation, leaves of absence, and terminations, and obtain necessary authorization.
  • Safety: Contribute to a safe environment for residents, staff, and self by adhering to safety guidelines and practices at all times.
  • Pro-active Learner: Demonstrate Bethany's vision and values, collaborate with colleagues, and share knowledge and learning experiences.
  • Team Work: Foster a responsible atmosphere of resident-centered care, maintain effective communication, and facilitate information flow between departments.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years' experience in electronic scheduling, preferably in healthcare
  • Previous experience with geriatrics preferred
  • Able to work effectively in a physically and mentally demanding environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate ability to understand, speak, read, and write effectively in English
  • Excellent observation, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of pay/premium codes and their impact on payroll, finance, budgets, and benefits
  • Experience using and complying with union agreements
