About the Role:

Loblaw Companies Limited is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Category Director to lead the Breakfast category across all formats. As a key member of the Super Market Division, you will be responsible for delivering great products and customer programs to over 450 grocery retail stores across Canada.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement category strategies to meet financial targets and drive business growth.
  • Work closely with the Format Category Teams to build category programs and ensure targets for sales, market share, shrink, and EBIT are met.
  • Responsible for weekly category reports and budgets by category, including Other Vendor Income.
  • Implement product assortment, sales, and buying plans to achieve category targets and review implementation throughout the year.
  • Develop and communicate merchandising direction for each retail format for assigned categories.
  • Develop and implement promotions and programs for assigned categories.
  • Lead weekly store tours to ensure category execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Coach, develop, and mentor direct reports to achieve business objectives.
  • Collaborate with the vendor community to maximize sales and profit.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to drive business growth.

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of business experience in marketing, merchandising, or pricing roles.
  • 5-7 years of leadership experience, encompassing coaching, mentoring, recruitment, selection, and performance management expertise.
  • Excellent communication skills across the enterprise.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing P&L statements.
  • A strong understanding of the market and competitive landscape.
  • Proven ability to develop short- and long-term plans in line with corporate strategies.
  • Progressive and innovative, with a strong customer lens in all decision-making processes.
  • Ability to gather and synthesize customer, competitor, and market insight and information.
  • Strong data management and analytical skills with strict attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to deliver results in a high-pressure environment.
  • Post-secondary education (university or professionally accredited college) or equivalent experience.
