Category Director, Haircare and MCM HABA Role Mandate

The Category Director is accountable for achieving financial targets across all formats for the Haircare and MCM HABA category. In partnership with the Format Category Teams, they will develop category programs and drive business objectives from strategy to tactics. This role will focus on coaching, mentoring, and developing the team, as well as providing direction in planning, vendor management, product assortment, space allocations, pricing, and promotion to support overall group objectives and financial targets.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Collaborate closely with the Format Category Teams to build category programs and ensure sales, market share, shrink, and EBIT targets are met for the Haircare and MCM HABA category.
  • Prepare and submit weekly category reports and LEs by category, including Other Vendor Income.
  • Implement product assortment, sales, and buying plans, advocating for customers' needs to achieve category targets and review implementation throughout the year, making adjustments as required.
  • Work with the control label brand team to develop innovative and differentiated products that grow the brand and help achieve overall strategy, sales, and market share.
  • Deliver against control label objectives to achieve annual sales, market share, and profit objectives.
  • Develop and communicate merchandising direction for each retail format for the Haircare and MCM HABA category.
  • Develop and implement promotions and programs for the Haircare and MCM HABA category.
  • Lead weekly store tours.
  • Coach, develop, and mentor direct reports, including on-the-job training needs, arranging appropriate training, providing timely feedback, and overseeing colleague development.
  • Collaborate with the vendor community to maximize sales and profit.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to invest in their business for growth ahead of market.
  • Take full ownership of key decisions and results, demonstrating a passion for the business and a desire to develop the team to share a similar vision.
  • Attend and participate in meetings as required (JBP, Merch Readiness, Blueprint to Sell, IR, etc.).
