OCAD University is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Dean of Design, driving the Faculty of Design's mission to create equitable impact in the imagining of a joyful, creative, and inclusive society through design.
About the RoleThe Dean of Design will be responsible for leading the Faculty's educational and research development, facilitating community and institutional partnerships, enhancing the student experience, and aligning the goals of the Faculty of Design with the University's Academic and Strategic Plan and its seven overarching priorities.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the Faculty's educational and research development, ensuring alignment with the University's Academic and Strategic Plan.
- Foster community and institutional partnerships to enhance the student experience and advance the Faculty's mission.
- Develop and implement strategic priorities and initiatives to advance decolonization, equity, and sustainability within the Faculty.
- Promote excellence in research, professional practice, and teaching within the Faculty.
- Collaborate with Deans of other faculties to promote effective management of the University's academic programs, research, and outreach.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of strong leadership, program and faculty advocacy, curricular development, and administrative experience. They will be a dynamic communicator, adept problem solver, and have excellent facilitation and negotiation skills. The candidate will also have significant experience successfully planning and managing a budget and excel in a fundraising capacity by nurturing meaningful, reciprocal relationships and partnerships.
