About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Intermediate Underground Estimator to join our team. As an Underground Estimator, you will be responsible for analyzing contract documents to prepare self-perform cost estimates of projects for underground utility installation. You will assemble accurate, timely, and well-organized estimates, including hard-bid, construction management, and design-build. You will also prepare quantity take-offs, organize sub-contractor quotes, and set up new cost estimates in bidding software.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze contract documents to prepare self-perform cost estimates of projects for underground utility installation.
- Assemble accurate, timely, and well-organized estimates, including hard-bid, construction management, and design-build.
- Prepare quantity take-offs.
- Organize sub-contractor quotes when the bid is successful, re-writing binders and assisting the buy-out process.
- Set up new cost estimates in bidding software.
- Develop schedule for accuracy and determine production rates.
- Contact subcontractors and vendors for specific divisions to get external pricing.
- Monitor the success of a project, noting potential challenges and building relationships with sub-trades for future opportunities.
- Identify potential project risks.
- Attend pre-tender meetings & site visits, where applicable.
- Work with proposal & operations teams in writing execution methodology, safety plans, Indigenous Engagement Strategies, and quality documentation.
- Present Estimate to management for Review.
Requirements
- 3+ years of Estimating experience.
- 1+ years of Water & Sewer construction experience is an asset.
- Project Management and Field Experience is an asset.
- Familiarity with B2W suite and asset.
- Self-motivated, energetic, and reliable with a positive disposition.
- Good communicator with attention to detail and good documentation skills.
