About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Intermediate Underground Estimator to join our team. As an Intermediate Underground Estimator, you will be responsible for analyzing contract documents to prepare self-perform cost estimates for underground utility installation projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze contract documents to prepare self-perform cost estimates for underground utility installation projects.
  • Assemble accurate, timely, and well-organized estimates, including hard-bid, construction management, and design-build.
  • Prepare quantity takeoffs.
  • Organize subcontractor quotes when the bid is successful, re-writing binders and assisting the buy-out process.
  • Set up new cost estimates in bidding software.
  • Develop schedules for accuracy and determine production rates.
  • Contact subcontractors and vendors for specific divisions to get external pricing.
  • Monitor the success of a project, noting potential challenges and building relationships with sub-trades for future opportunities.
  • Identify potential project risks.
  • Attend pre-tender meetings and site visits, where applicable.
  • Work with proposal and operations teams in writing execution methodology, safety plans, Indigenous Engagement Strategies, and quality documentation.
  • Present estimates to management for review.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of estimating experience.
  • 1+ years of water and sewer construction experience is an asset.
  • Project management and field experience is an asset.
  • Familiarity with B2W suite and asset.
  • Self-motivated, energetic, and reliable with a positive disposition.
  • Good communicator with attention to detail and good documentation skills.
