About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Heavy Civil Estimator to join our team. As a Senior Heavy Civil Estimator, you will be responsible for analyzing contract documents to prepare self-perform cost estimates of projects for earthworks, site development, road building, and detail excavation.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze contract documents to prepare self-perform cost estimates of projects for earthworks, site development, road building, and detail excavation.
- Assemble accurate, timely, and well-organized estimates, including hard-bid, construction management, and design-build.
- Prepare quantity takeoffs.
- Organize sub-contractor quotes when the bid is successful, re-writing binders and assisting the buy-out process.
- Set up new cost estimates in bidding software.
- Develop schedules for accuracy and determine production rates.
- Contact subcontractors and vendors for specific divisions to get external pricing.
- Monitor the success of a project, noting potential challenges and building relationships with sub-trades for future opportunities.
- Identify potential project risks.
- Attend pre-tender meetings and site visits, where applicable.
- Work with proposal and operations teams in writing execution methodology, safety plans, Indigenous Engagement Strategies, and quality documentation.
- Present estimates to management for review.
Requirements
- 8+ years of estimating experience is required.
- 3+ years of civil construction, project management, and field experience is an asset.
- Familiarity with B2W suite and asset.
- Self-motivated, energetic, and reliable with a positive disposition.
- Good communicator with attention to detail and good documentation skills.
