Job Summary

Smiths Detection is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Service Technician I- Cargo to join our team. As a key member of our field service team, you will be responsible for providing technical support and maintenance services to our customers, ensuring the optimal performance of our X-Ray and Cargo Inspection Systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and maintenance services to customers, including troubleshooting, repair, and installation of equipment.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and inspections to ensure equipment is functioning properly and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with customers to identify and resolve technical issues, providing clear and concise communication and documentation.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technical developments and advancements in the field, applying this knowledge to improve service delivery and customer satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree or related trade certification (electrical, electronic, mechanical) or military training (electrical, mechanical, electronics).
  • Minimum of 3 years experience directly involved in troubleshooting and field repair of electrical and electronic systems and equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers and colleagues.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fluency in French and English.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite and specialized software programs.
  • Knowledge of business PC applications and ability to effectively use them to provide clear and concise information summaries.
Working Environment

The successful candidate will be required to work in a variety of environments, including customer sites, warehouses, and other locations as required. The role will involve frequent travel, including overnight stays, and may require working in extreme environments (temperature, humidity, noise, confined spaces, etc.) around dangerous industrial equipment.
