Field Service Engineer I

Position Overview:
As a Level One Field Service Technician, the ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach to sharing knowledge and assisting colleagues. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential. The technician will exhibit effective troubleshooting methodologies for electronic and mechanical repairs while maintaining a solid technical understanding of the products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete and uphold product training and certification for all equipment serviced.
- Address service repair and preventative maintenance needs while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Respond promptly to customer contract requirements and management requests.
- Install, repair, and maintain equipment in the field, including electrical, computer systems (hardware and software), mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Provide customer training as necessary.
- Document all inspections, maintenance, and repair activities, submitting paperwork in a timely manner.
- Manage repair parts cycle time, including ordering, installing, and returning parts.
- Prepare formal reports on service activities.
- Ensure tools and testing equipment are maintained and calibrated properly.
- Evaluate performance based on field support data.
- Submit all expenses promptly without delay.
- Offer technical support to customers and fellow service professionals as needed.
- Maintain clear and effective business communication, both written and verbal.
- Implement measures to control and minimize costs.
- Be prepared for travel, overtime, and work hours outside of standard weekdays as required.

- Ensure compliance with all applicable export control and security regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education/Training: An Associate's Degree or related trade certification in electrical, electronic, or mechanical fields, or military training in these areas. Equivalent experience (3+ years) in a related field service role is acceptable.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in troubleshooting and field repair of electrical and electronic systems.
Knowledge/Skills: Candidates should possess excellent communication skills and a strong customer focus. Responsiveness to customer issues is critical, along with a willingness to travel on short notice.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Capability to push or pull weights of up to 200 lbs.
- Ability to maneuver equipment weighing up to 1000 lbs. with appropriate assistance.
- Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, and working in various positions requiring full body mobility.
- Ability to work at heights and climb ladders.
- Must follow safety precautions in extreme environments around industrial equipment.
Work Environment: The work environment is primarily off-site, serving customers at various locations, including ports, border facilities, and airports. Outdoor work may be necessary to meet customer needs.
