We are seeking a dynamic Human Resources Director to lead the people strategy at our beautiful hotel in downtown Calgary. As a strategic business partner, you will collaborate closely with the General Manager and Executive Committee, fostering a positive work environment and championing associate well-being.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of our hotel's operations and create strategic HR objectives aligned with business goals. Participate actively in budget planning, focusing on staffing, productivity, benefits, and employee relations costs.
  • Partner with hotel leaders to cultivate a thriving workplace culture. Ensure adherence to company personnel policies and procedures, upholding HR philosophies regarding employee relations and disciplinary processes.
  • Facilitate open communication channels among associates, providing an accessible platform for feedback and concerns. Lead town hall meetings, address staff inquiries, and guide the disciplinary process while monitoring turnover trends and proposing solutions for improvement.
  • Direct and oversee all recruitment and hiring activities for both exempt and non-exempt positions, developing effective strategies to attract top talent.
  • Design, implement, and coordinate comprehensive training programs that enhance associate skills and promote management/supervisory development. This includes mandatory anti-harassment and anti-discrimination training.
  • Oversee performance appraisals across all departments and maintain accurate employee records within the HR information system, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
  • Monitor our hotel's adherence to Canadian labor laws and promote a culture of safety awareness among associates.
  • Conduct wage and salary surveys for the local market as needed to ensure competitive compensation practices.
  • Ensure compliance with company HR policies and procedures, providing guidance and support to managers and associates.
  • Investigate employee relations and labor-related matters, ensuring adherence to Canadian legal frameworks.
