Overview
We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Business Partner to join our Calgary-based HR team, reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources. In this role, you will leverage your expertise to develop and maintain high-performing teams throughout the organization. You will build strong, trusting relationships with your designated business units, driving talent strategies that align with our company's goals. Your expertise will be key in advising leaders on performance optimization, employee relations, engagement, talent development, and more. Additionally, you will provide targeted support to leadership in managing a unionized environment. This role is essential in cultivating a vibrant team culture that drives our success.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with senior leadership to develop a deep understanding of key business priorities and continuously support leaders in achieving their business goals.
- Guide a team of people leaders on executing talent management practices, such as organizational design, performance management, change management, retention and engagement, and succession planning.
- Lead by example, supporting a positive work environment with strong values and a high-touch employee experience.
- Collaborate with People Operations, Organizational Effectiveness, Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, and leverage cross-functional knowledge to enable and empower a high-performing team.
- Partner with peers across the HR Business Partnership team to establish operating principles and best practices for a growing organization.
Employee and Labour Relations
- Collaborate with peers and navigate complex employee relation matters promptly and sensitively, supporting people leaders and employees through resolution.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Federal and Provincial Employment Standards and Human Rights legislation to maintain a fair and legally compliant work environment.
- Conduct thorough investigations into employee grievances or complaints, develop actionable recommendations, and follow through on decided actions to resolve issues effectively.
- Participate in collective bargaining negotiations and procedures, including assisting in developing Collective Bargaining Mandates, drafting proposals, reviewing contract terminology, and suggesting additional rules and regulations as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management or post-secondary education at college or university level, with a focus on Human Resources or Labour Relations and/or a combination of experience and education.
- 7 to 10 years of experience in the field of Human Resources, with a minimum of 5 years as an HR Business Partner/Advisor/Consultant with extensive expertise advising and supporting functional leaders and bridging people programs and business needs.
- Experience in Labour Relations and working in a multi-union environment is a compelling asset.
