Digital Growth Leader for Marketing Technologies

About the Role

Driving growth is the cornerstone of any thriving marketplace. As a Digital Growth Leader for Marketing Technologies, you will oversee Thumbtack's customer growth engine, leading an interdisciplinary team of engineers specializing in frontend, backend, data engineering, and machine learning/optimization. Your role will involve partnering with product, design, data science, and marketing leads to develop and execute a growth strategy that powers Thumbtack's expansion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bolster and expand an exceptional engineering organization with a strong culture of excellence and agility, currently at 10 engineers with opportunities for growth.
  • Identify and support senior technical leaders to scale the organization and meet aggressive growth goals across existing and emerging channels.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing leads to understand their needs and priorities, working with engineering, product, design, and analytics teams to craft a compelling vision and long-term strategy for growth.
  • Equip the team for success in execution, anticipating and planning for necessary infrastructure to support long-term growth. This may include developing backend systems, machine learning models, frontend infrastructure for optimal page speed, or experimental infrastructure for rapid testing and prototyping.
  • Work closely with other engineering leaders to evolve and continually improve Thumbtack's engineering culture in a high-paced growth environment.

Your Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a senior engineering management role.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of software development experience at scale.
  • Good knowledge of growth strategies and experience building and scaling growth teams.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • A passion for leading teams, setting vision, developing leaders, and building highly functioning organizations.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive results.
  • A commitment to staying up-to-date with innovation and guiding technology evolution, including coding proficiency.

Bonus Points if You Have

  • Experience working at a growth-stage consumer tech company.
  • Experience with marketplace businesses.
  • Background in building marketing technologies (martech).
  • Management experience is beneficial but not required.
