Nutrition Specialist Position in Nova Scotia Healthcare

We are seeking a highly skilled Nutrition Specialist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing expert nutrition advice and guidance to patients, clients, and communities across our province.

About the Opportunity

This is a permanent part-time position, working 60 hours biweekly, with the possibility of days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Foods and Nutrition, a Dietetic Internship Program, and current registration with the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association. Previous experience as a dietitian, particularly in inpatient clinical nutrition, is an asset.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership in team efforts to support the nutritional health of patients, clients, and communities through health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, support, and rehabilitation. They will also participate in the Integrated Dietetic Internship program and employ an evidence-informed approach to practice.

About You

We are looking for a motivated and compassionate individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will have the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, with a strong commitment to providing high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will have experience counselling patients in an outpatient setting and be proficient in Microsoft Office computer applications.

Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset. The successful candidate will be required to participate in continuing education and upgrading of skills to ensure they remain current in their practice. We offer a competitive salary of $32.94 - $43.43 per hour, with benefits including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
