The Dietitian is a key member of the healthcare team, responsible for providing expert nutrition advice to patients, families, and communities. This role involves leading team efforts to support the nutritional health of patients, clients, and communities through health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, support, and rehabilitation.
The Dietitian is accountable for employing an evidence-informed approach to practice, collaborating with healthcare team providers, and sharing nutrition expertise to ensure quality and continuity of care.
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Foods and Nutrition, a Dietetic Internship Program, and current registration with the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association. A minimum of one year of experience as a dietitian is preferred, with inpatient clinical nutrition experience and competency in dysphagia management, enteral, and parenteral nutrition being assets.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications, familiarity with the Meditech information system, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and work under pressure is essential, as is the ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
This is a permanent part-time position, with hours including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The hourly rate is $32.94 - $43.43, and successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
