**Job Overview:**

Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada is a leading healthcare organization dedicated to empowering individuals with vision loss to live independently and regain confidence in their daily lives.

We are seeking an experienced Vision Rehabilitation Expert or Service Coordinator - Vision Loss to join our team. This role will involve working closely with individuals, families, and communities to provide tailored support and training in compensatory independent living skills and assistive technology.

About the Role:

This position is responsible for assessing the needs of individuals with vision loss, developing personalized plans, and delivering instruction and guidance in areas such as personal management, household management, communication, leisure activities, indoor orientation & mobility skills, and technology training.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be able to work collaboratively with stakeholders, and possess a strong understanding of adaptive technology and disabilities. A graduate degree in a relevant field, such as instructor for blind and visually impaired programs or diploma in specialized studies, O&M and vision rehabilitation, is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess the independent living needs and abilities of individuals with vision loss
  • Develop and implement individualized plans to achieve goals and objectives
  • Teach adaptive skills for independent living, including personal management, household management, communication, leisure activities, indoor orientation & mobility skills, and technology training
  • Assist individuals in acquiring and using assistive devices
  • Maintain accurate case data and documentation
  • Provide consultation, public education, and in-service training
  • Perform administrative duties, including service tracking, benchmarking, and report writing
  • Liaise and build relationships with community-based rehabilitation teams, agencies, schools, partners, health practitioners, and stakeholders
  • Attend and participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings
