The demand for innovative solutions in the life sciences industry is driving the need for skilled professionals like you to join our team at ATS Automation. As an Electrical Controls Designer, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of automation systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop complete control solutions and electrical design packages based on customer specifications and standardized design practices used at ATS.

• Collaborate with mechanical designers to design control systems that enable machines to perform their intended functions safely and reliably.

• Create detailed electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics, cable routing diagrams, panel layouts, bills of materials, and material requisitions based on ATS standard specifications and customer requirements.

• Work with other members of the Controls Engineering Department and other groups to continuously improve methods of integrating controls technology, enhancing safety, functionality, and reducing costs.

• Specify electrical and controls-related hardware and software and produce requisitions for material purchases.

• Integrate third-party equipment and electronic components into electrical design packages.

• Verify that electrical design packages are complete, accurate, and safe based on sound design practices and accepted standards.

• Work with customers, project managers, designers, toolmakers, and electricians to solve problems and provide customers with complete, functional systems.

• Provide customers with training specific to their current project.

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of methods for integrating controls technology.

Requirements:

A post-secondary technology diploma or engineering degree, specializing in electronics, electrical, or controls technology, is required. Three years of experience in electrical control systems design, preferably in the industrial automation field, is also necessary.

A working knowledge of ePlan and AutoCAD, as well as the ability to keep abreast of leading-edge technology, is essential. If you're excited about this role but do not meet all the qualifications, you are still encouraged to apply.
