About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Control Systems Specialist to join our team at ATS Automation. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing complete control solutions and electrical design packages based on customer specifications and standardized design practices.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with mechanical designers to design control systems that enable machines to perform their intended functions safely and reliably.
  • Develop comprehensive electrical design packages, including detailed electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics, cable routing diagrams, panel layouts, bills of materials, and material requisitions, based on ATS standard specifications and customer requirements.
  • Work with other members of the Controls Engineering Department and other groups to improve methods of integrating controls technology, enhancing safety, functionality, and reducing costs.
  • Specify electrical and controls-related hardware and software and produce requisitions for material purchases.
  • Integrate third-party equipment and electronic component entry into electrical design packages.
  • Verify the completeness, accuracy, and safety of electrical design packages based on sound design practices and accepted standards.
  • Provide training to customers on electrical hardware, machine operation, programming principles, program functionality, and program structure.
Qualifications
  • A post-secondary technology diploma or engineering degree specializing in electronics, electrical, or controls technology.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical control systems design, preferably in the industrial automation field.
  • Working knowledge of ePlan and AutoCAD, with the ability to stay up-to-date with leading-edge technology.
