Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Control Systems Hardware Designer to join our team at ATS Automation. As a key member of our Controls Engineering Department, you will be responsible for designing and developing complete controls solutions and electrical design packages based on customer specifications and standardized design practices.

Main Responsibilities

  • Work with mechanical designers to design control systems that enable machines to perform their intended functions safely and reliably.
  • Formulate and produce complete electrical design packages, including detailed electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics, cable routing diagrams, panel layouts, bills of materials, and material requisitions.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Controls Engineering Department and other groups to improve methods of integrating controls technology, enhancing safety, functionality, and reducing costs.
  • Specify electrical and controls-related hardware and software, and produce requisitions for material purchases.
  • Integrate third-party equipment and electronic components into electrical design packages.
  • Verify that electrical design packages are complete, accurate, and safe, and that I/O drawings meet program requirements.
  • Work with customers, project managers, designers, toolmakers, and electricians to solve problems and provide complete, functional systems.
  • Provide customers with training specific to their current project.

Qualifications

  • A post-secondary technology diploma or engineering degree or equivalent, specializing in electronics, electrical, or controls technology.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical control systems design, preferably in the industrial automation field.
  • A working knowledge of ePlan and AutoCAD, and the ability to keep abreast of leading-edge technology.
